Acrylic on Paper. Artist's statement: I used for the first time, a new color called Joscephine's Blue, which I formulated for the lake water. Joscephine Gomez, known as the Philippines' modern Renaissance woman, has won 60 awards in international art competitions, mostly Diamond and Gold. She is distinguished as the first Filipino classical singer to do solo concerts in Brunei Darussalam and in Israel. She was one of the first Filipinos to perform as a solo artist in concerts in Russia, when she represented the Philippines in the International Festival of Music for the Asia-Pacific Region in 1992. A Voice teacher, she pioneered Voice Therapy and Rehabilitation in the Philippines as an allied medical practice in 1995. She has authored course content and lectured in 36 unique seminars and workshops in Communication, Mind Development and Training. She has performed major roles in Tanghalang Pilipino , Dulaang UP and KAPI theatre productions. She has also hosted her own talk shows on radio and TV. Another distinction of Ms Gomez is being the Philippines' longest survivor of cancer, having been diagnosed with stage 3 retinoblastoma at age 2. Wearing an eyepatch since age 2 has never hindered her from any of her professional pursuits.
