Yellow Devotion

Oil on Canvas Artist's Statement: Yellow Devotion is about a popular Philippine fiesta known as the Festival of the Black Nazarene. This work portrays my sister who has down syndrome. I placed her as the subject in a situation that evokes revelry & celebration. I put her as the main character of my works to raise public awareness about people living with down syndrome that they can also be part of this society.
