Mixed Media Artist's Statement: There was a time when children spent time playing various games in the streets, such as Tumbang-preso, langit-lupa, patintero, and many more. The highlight of this sculpture is the game spider-fighting. The common practice of this game is that kids will capture spiders that will serve as fighters. The captured spiders have a dedicated compartment inside the matchbox to prevent them from preying on one another. Now, public transportation vehicles such as jeepneys have added clear-plastics for passengers, to prevent people from contracting diseases. Filipinos today have become the literal embodiment of the spiders inside the matchbox of a kid. That experience will live on and will be part of Filipino history.
